The main subject of his poets is love for Allah. One can understand it with his famous sayingHe had numerous poets but he published only two books. One of them is Divan. He compiled all of his poems. Another one is Risalet-ün Nushiyye. He collected both his article and his poets. But we can understand how important knowledge is with his saying according to him. He said that "Knowledge is to understand - Knowledge is to understand who you are - If you don't know who you are - What's the use of reading"
After he had dropped out  of school, he started to help his father as a farmer. He had a chance to meet Hajji Baktash Wali while he was working. He was inpressed with Yunus's respectful and polite attitude. So he orientated him to Taptuk Emre who is his dervish.
Taptuk Emre commissioned him as carrying the woods at his own dervish convent. While he was carrying them once, Taptuk Emre asked him "Why all of the woods are smooth? Aren't there any crooked wood in the forest?" And then Yunus replied "I don't permit crooked men in let alone crooked woods."
Yunus Emre won his dervish's approval with his industriousness and honesty in a short time. Taptuk Emre decided to marry off Yunus with his daughter. But he had thought he didn't deserve it because of not being utterly a dervish. So he refused it and left the dervish convent. He overcame a lot of event while he was far away from there. He eventually thought he had attained the dervish's degree. He came back to dervish convent and apologized from his dervish. And then he had continued to live there until his death.
"Come let us all be friends for once
Let us make life easy on us
Let us be lovers and loved ones
The earth should be left to no one"
