Turkey has a very rich food culture. Every region of Turkey has different eating habits. Some of them like eating spicier and some of them like eating healthier. Let’s have a look at Turkey’s eating habits. In Karadeniz region people usually eat seafood. All kinds of fish are popular in Karadeniz but “hamsi” is their favorite. They even make desserts with it. They usually like eating “Karalahana sarması” and fish. In Eastern regions people usually eat meat. The meat is cheaper and more delicious there. They like eating “kebaps, meatballs and çiğ köfte” In Anatolian region people eat healthier than other regions. They prefer eating vegetables.



In Turkey people usually have three meals everyday. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is very important because it gives the energy we need everyday. Turkish people usually have breakfast at their homes. They generally have egg, cheese, olives, bread, honey or jam, butter and milk for breakfast. Some people have breakfast at cafes or restaurants. Some of them have soup and some of them have bakeries. “Simit( a wheel shaped food) is very popular for breakfast. People generally eat it with tea. Lunch is the second meal of the day many people have lunch out either at restaurants or fast food places. Working people and students eat fast food for lunch. “Döner, lahmacun and toast” are very popular for lunch. Dinner is the last meal but it is the most important meal of the day. People usually have dinner at their home with their families. They want to see all family members at the table.
